Last week Rep. Artiles visited the research lab in UM that will be studying the health effects of e-cigarettes. Dr. Matthias Salute, professor of medicine and molecular and cellular pharmacology at the University of Miami will be leading the study using a grant from the Florida Department of Heath. In 2013 an estimated 13.1% of high school students were using e-cigarettes. During the 2014 legislative session Rep Artiles lead the effort to pass state wide regulations banning the sale of e-cigarettes to minors under the age of 18. Rep Artiles is looking forward to the results of Dr. Salathe’s study to uncover the health risks that these have.
Happy New Year!!
I pray that 2018 will bring health, happiness and above all Family unity.
Life has many ups and downs, you have two choices; stay down or get up and climb again. I choose the latter.
Thank you to my family and friends for always being there. I will never forget!
Semper Fidelis,
The Artiles Family
